Michael Jordaan in the hotseat for the #FridayStandIn

The #FridayStandIn for this week is FNB CEO, MXit chairperson, winefarm owner, innovation evangelist and Twitter enthusiast, Michael Jordaan.

The man behind the Steve campaign has built a culture of innovation at FNB which has led to a customer base of 9 million and a profit after tax of $1 billion.

Big following

His focus on encouraging staff to share their ideas for innovations has led to 5,585 self-generated innovations being implemented by FNB. This led to the bank being named the "World's Most Innovative Bank" in the 2012 BAI-Finacle Global Banking Innovation Awards held in Washington, DC.

Best known to legions of followers through his personal Twitter account, Michael announced his resignation from the bank after 10 years via the social network, and continues to spread the gospel of innovation through this platform. Just this week he tweeted, "Modern day business survival strategy: disrupt or be disrupted."

This Friday, Michael will be putting his money where his mouth is as he steps out of his comfort zone to take over Redi Tlhabi's show as the Friday Stand-in.

Each week, 567 CapeTalk and Talk Radio 702 ask a different prominent South African to host the show. This entails managing an hour of the open line where listeners can call in to discuss whatever is on their mind, in addition to a number of regular features, including science, tech, sex and comedy.

Hosting the show

Together with co-host, Africa Melane, Michael will have to navigate his way through the views, opinions, comments, questions and ideas from a broad range of listeners in the Western Cape and Gauteng.

"Michael is highly regarded and respected by our listeners. We are very excited to host a captain of industry in our studio to create magic for three hours," said 567 CapeTalk station manager, Colleen Louw.

His communication strategy with his staff has reaped rewards but will Michael be able to connect as well with an audience of over 900,000? Tune in on Friday from 09h00 to 12h00 to find out and to join the conversation.

Tune in via the stations from 9am to 12am, or join the conversation on Twitter with @michaeljordaan @radio702 via the hashtag #FridayStandIn.
