Role interview:

The role of the radio content organiser is to support our senior manager in planning and organising quality content for our broadcasting platforms. This role is essential in ensuring our programs reflect Christian community values and interests and are delivered with excellence across English and Afrikaans platforms.

Key responsibilities:

Content planning and organisation:
  • Develop and schedule diverse programmes for 657AM and other platforms.
  • Ensure content aligns with the station’s mission, values, and listener preferences.
  • Coordinate recording dates and times for audio and audio-visual content.
  • Edit and schedule syndicated programmes and recorded content.
  • Manage the daily broadcast log to maintain content alignment with station standards.
  • Identify and organise content for podcasts, digital, electronic, and social media.
  • Coordinate interviews, live broadcasts, and special events.
Administration:
  • Book studio sessions and manage content recordings.
  • Coordinate with presenters, guests, and contributors to plan programme content.
  • Assist the Senior Manager in sourcing and managing content.
  • Organise payments for participants and handle related administration.
  • Keep the CRM system updated with guest information.
  • Arrange training sessions with presenters and content providers.
Podcasting:
  • Create new channels for podcasts in collaboration with the communications department.
  • Edit and upload podcasts to the server.
  • Ensure podcasts include necessary programme descriptions.
Technical support:
  • Provide detailed programming schedules to the technical team.
  • Ensure timely delivery of pre-recorded audio files.
  • Review audio quality and provide feedback.
  • Assist in resolving technical issues promptly.
Content support for social, digital, and electronic media:
  • Provide content for social, digital, and electronic media platforms.
  • Identify and coordinate programmes, content, and guests for these platforms.

Qualification and experience:
  • Diploma in communications, media studies, broadcast journalism, or a related field (NQF 5).
  • Relevant certifications in radio broadcasting or media production.
  • 2-3 years of experience in radio programming, production, or a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with the technical aspects of radio broadcasting, including editing and final control.
Skills and competencies:
  • Proficiency with broadcast equipment and audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition, Pro Tools).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet.
  • Creative thinking for content development.
  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Language proficiency: English and Afrikaans
