Making milk look interesting

Ola! Films' Amy Allais has just completed Clover's new spot and according to Allais, “[t]he toughest part of this commercial was making the milk, not really a very interesting, colourful thing as it is, look beautiful and appetising.”

Commissioned by Joe Public, Allais was challenged to ensure the minimalist script was delivered with her usual creative and technical touch. The spot, shot on the Phantom camera at 1000 frames per second, is for a new fat-free milk from Clover.

“Shooting on the Phantom may have been a technical nightmare, but it definitely achieved the treatment I had initially set out. Kudos to Refinery for helping me pull it off,” she comments.

In addition to the milk shots throughout the commercial, the end titles were actually carved by hand, and not added in post as many may think. “If you can get in camera, you do,” she says.
