Pleased to meet you...We're a small, dynamic team of creative designers, account managers, and strategists operating within ShopriteX – the Shoprite Group's innovation hub. Our team produces a wide range of content for the group's leading brands. From Checkers and Shoprite supermarkets to the award-winning Xtra Savings program and even Sixty60, our on-demand grocery delivery app. We also service Africa's largest precision retail marketing agency, Rainmaker Media.
A slice of life at StudioX...Our creatives may start the morning writing and designing infographics for Rainmaker sales decks. They may chat through scripts for an Xtra Savings benefit explainer video after lunch, and then end the day editing AI-generated subject lines across retail categories in Airtable – our glorified spreadsheet. In short, we're not afraid of hard work but remain fierce advocates for a healthy work-life balance.
Who we're looking for...We're looking for a senior copy and content writer who is comfortable operating as a digital content producer for multiple design teams and brands, ideally excelling at:
- Working across various target markets, platforms, and channels
- Engaging consumers and employees with content
- Keeping a cool head while delivering exceptional results under pressure
- Smashing out high-quality copy, content, or ideas to fast and tight deadlines
- Impressing project stakeholders with exceptional work and a can-do attitude
- Deep diving into user journeys and customer experience design to amplify creative
- But most importantly, our ideal candidate's love language will be working collaboratively in a cross-functional team of designers, developers, account managers, animators, strategists, and various product owners to create impactful and innovative content marketing collateral.
Our new content whisperer will be...- Working with the creative team to create our omnichannel retail content, particularly with graphic designers and animators
- Integrating closely with stakeholders to deliver omnichannel retail content, particularly proofreaders, account managers, and brand managers
- Being the custodian of the tone and language style for your brands
- Interpreting reporting data and ideating content like videos and infographics
- Taking responsibility for all written content in allocated communication projects
- Taking joint responsibility with account management teams for the quality & delivery of work
- Being able to write in different styles considering the brands and audiences
- Translating a brief and the strategic requirements into a compelling solution
- Unpacking briefs to fully leverage opportunities for highly creative output
- Taking ownership of tasks and the creative process to progress towards deadlines
- Understanding creative, artistic, and cultural trends and how to apply them
- Being an integral part of ideation and creation – an impactful thought-leader
- Being able to impactfully present your team's work to leaders and stakeholders
- Having the ability to work within a team, as well as independently
Our new content whisperer will require...- Verbal and written command of the English language
- Relevant copywriting degree/diploma (essential)
- Relevant years work experience as a copywriter or content writer
- Solid understanding of digital platforms in conjunction with traditional channels
- Solid portfolio showcasing both ATL and digital work
- Strong presentation skills
- Strong strategic foundation
- Proficiency at juggling both in-office and remote working environments
Our new content whisperer may also have...- Verbal and written proficiency in any additional South African languages (a plus)
- A proven understanding of retail marketing and advertising (a plus)
- Experience with trafficking and timekeeping software (e.g., Workbook/Chase)
- Proficiency in MS Office & Teams
- Experience working in cloud-based design platforms like Figma, InVision, etc. (a plus)
- Proficiency with design programs like Photoshop, After Effects, etc. (a plus)
- Exposure to SEO and SEM, as well as AdWords, Analytics, and Reporting (a plus)
