A Cape Town based marketing communications consultancy called Ensky Marketing, celebrated its second year in business on the 1st of April 2004 with the announcement of being awarded the Storm (telecommunications) corporate as well as consumer accounts.
The consultancy was formed after a couple of months of research, collaboration and preparation to ensure the market was ready for this concept. The two founder members, Nicola Byers and Karen Visser, both previously head of Marketing and Corporate Communications & Investor Relations at Thawte and M-Web Holdings respectively, decided that the balance of disciplines can exist outside of the corporate world.
"Ensky Marketing is a dinkum English word which means 'to place in the sky'. We are fundamentally an outsourced marketing department without all the overheads. Karen and I have varied yet complimentary backgrounds, and our combination of skills have contributed to the successful marketing plans of our clients," said Nicola Byers.
Ensky Marketing's services cover the full range of marketing and Public Relations needs - from marketing communications research and strategy through to brochure development. Ensky Marketing has attracted various agencies as partners and has set up a system to match the right service with the right client, e.g. a small client is usually too small for a large advertising agency, but there are a number of excellent smaller creative hubs that give clients the service that they need.
Their client list is quite varied and includes AlliumGrotech (exporter of exclusive vegetables); Broadwave (an outsourced IT support company); CAV Holdings Ltd (export manufacturer of exclusive sports cars such as the GT40 and watercraft under the Prestige brand); Daschbosch (wine cellar); Exigent (outsourced transcription services); Floatlite (waxless floating devices used for mood lighting); Global Asset Protection (a fleet control and management company); La Vita Nuova (a corporate governance training company); Perdeberg Winery (wine cellar); New Property Ventures (a property development company) and Storm (telecommunications).
