    Mxit Brand Index: 30 September 2014

    Snapshot: MTN enters Top 10 brands, KFC takes 4th position with sustained growth, Microsoft Nokia and Ster-Kinekor close in on 1 million subscriber milestone; solid increase in app subscribers for PEPcell, Vodacom, Shield and Shoprite.

    Ster Kinekor flighted several ads in cinemas nation-wide, promoting their new Mxit app. The September campaign also included splash advertising, great in-app content, and movie ticket giveaways, netting the brand a 19% growth of 131,451 new subscribers and moving into 7th position.

    MTN entered the Top 10 brands for the first time, in September following the brand's MTN 8 and Always On promotions that made use of splash advertising and compelling offers to draw 30,066 new subscribers.

    KFC's 4% growth of 37,160 new subscribers took the brand into 4th position in September, making the brand the top paid advertiser on the Mxit platform.

    Microsoft Nokia's Lumia campaign performed well, delivering a 9% increase of 67,371 new subscribers, while Vodacom's uChoose, Java and M-Pesa campaigns delivered 42,893 new subscribers to the brand's 3rd generation Mxit app built by Kazazoom. Shoprite's Baby campaigns that followed the retailer's birthday month celebration campaign resulted in a 6% subscriber growth, with 26,409 new subscribers taking the brand from 17th to 15th position. PEPcell's September campaigns that promoted the MTN Always On campaign delivered a strong 8% growth of 46,362 new subscribers to the Mxit app.

    Shield's September Do More campaign delivered over 1 million ad impressions, growing the brand's subscriber numbers by 20,080, and putting them in the running at 42nd position to enter the Top 40 brands on Mxit.
