The run went smoothly with no serious incidents and the bikes began arriving at Maynardville at around 9:45am, where festivities had already begun. The end event is intended as a ‘thank you' to the motorcyclists for bringing the toys. After Cape Town Mayor Dan Plato opened proceedings, the programme for the day got underway. The live band, Joe Public (the celebrated in-demand rally band performing at the Toy Run Cape Town for 11 years this year) gave their usual flawless rockin'- the-house performance throughout the day. The comedians this year, who very kindly perform free for the charity, included Cape Town favourite Kurt Schoonraad, newcomer Piet (Andries-Petrus-my-parents-didn't-see-the-new-South-Africa-coming) Potgieter and our very own Player 23, Malcolm Ferreira, who all had the huge crowd in hysteria.
