The youth day programming is a culmination of months of planning and training: a call to entry generated 300 entries from interested learners in April and 95 learners were selected to audition. Forty-two learners were selected to start training and have been attending workshops. But only 29 learners will effectively run the radio station between 6am and 10pm on 16 June.
Nine students will be on-air presenters; five will be journalists, seven in marketing, two in music compilation, two in production and four in sound-engineering.
