Business Day reports that Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande wants to see more than 5,5-million students enrolled at universities, colleges and tertiary training institutions within the next 20 years. That is five times more than are currently enrolled at various institutions today.

According to a Times Live report, the government is considering offering students bursaries to encourage them to enrol at FETs. The SETA's (Sector Education and Training Authority's) are financed through a training levy that is calculated on the total payroll of every company operating in South Africa. Nzimande said that SETA's have a "key role" to play in revitalising artisan training in this country.
