Construction New Media Awards (CNMA) 2006 entries now open

Entries for the CNMA 2006 have opened and the Grand Prix winner gets a week long trip to London, with the chance to work alongside one of the judges. Praise and prizes will be bestowed on 23 February 2006 in association with the 9th International Design Indaba.

According to the website, "there may be no fortune in winning a Construction Award, but fame comes in the form of the coveted Grand Prix".

A Cape Town-based initiative, the awards aim to celebrate and elevate the status of new media design by honouring and accrediting designers, writers, programmers and thinkers who produce challenging, imaginative interactive work, both on a creative and a functional platform.

2005 saw the highest number of entrants in the history of the CNMA and the organisers hope that with the expansion of the new media industry in our country this trend will be an ongoing one. The CNMA awards, now in their 6th year, have sent winners to New York, Vienna and London.

The inaugural event was launched in conjunction with the 4th International Design Indaba in March 2001, supported by an overwhelming number of South African digital media design agencies.

A Student Award, introduced in 2002, has been well received, gaining considerable interest internationally. The Design Indaba has a special interest in the development of young designers in South Africa.

Based on feedback over the years, the categories for 2006 have been refined and are now: Online, Offline, Motion Graphics, Advertising / Promotion, Student Award and Grand Prix, with the deadline for entries on 10 February 2006.
