Michelle Garforth and Bridex SA raise funds for CHOC

SABC 2 Morning Live host Michelle Garforth, has donated her time to perform as the master of ceremonies at the Bridex South Africa Young Designer 2004 Awards Banquet at Gallagher Estate on Saturday 29 May 2004. The Bridex Young Designer Award, which takes place annually with Bridex SA, is an initiative aimed at offering talented young South African designers an opportunity to make their mark in South Africa's fashion arena.

Many previous winners and finalists have gone on to become regular exhibitors at Bridex, and other bridal events - a testimony to the success, and the importance of this exciting initiative. The winner of the "Multicultural International Bridal Fantasy" in 2004 will take home an industrial sewing machine courtesy of Johannesburg Sewing Centre and the three finalists will receive fabric vouchers from Bridal Wholesalers and fabulous product hampers from Estee Lauder. Most importantly, the finalists will enjoy an experience that will set them strides ahead in South Africa's fashion industry!

Bridex will extend its social responsibility even further, with the 2004 Young Designer Award being presented at a prestigious gala event - 100% of profits from the function will go to CHOC. The Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa is a country-wide voluntary organisation which brings together the parents of children who suffer from all varieties of cancer or life threatening blood disorders. First established in 1979, the goal of this dedicated group is to improve the welfare and quality of care for children with cancer.

The evening's entertainment will encompass a fashion spectacular coordinated and produced by Eleanor Ford, regional director of Fashion Group SA, and will showcase the designs of 2004's 10 finalists in the "International Multicultural Bridal Fantasy". The Johannesburg and Pretoria Youth Orchestras will perform and the Duke Of Cornwall boys' choir add an additional element of talent and youth to the event. Tickets are R500.00 per person and Corporate tables seating 10 guests are available at R3 500 per table.
