Mayonnaise in a PET bottle

Nola's new Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) mayonnaise bottle will hit South African TV screens on 23 September 2005 with a new commercial conceptualised and produced by The Agency.

Christa van Dyk, Business Unit Director at The Agency, says: "Nola is the first and probably the only brand to be in a position to supply mayonnaise in a PET bottle.

"Nola mayo is made according to the French cool stir method thus the product can be inserted into the bottles without container shrinkage or disfigurement of packaging from a heated product.

"The Agency was briefed to develop an advert that not only introduces the new bottle to the market, but also clearly demonstrates the virtually unbreakable nature of PET, the tamper-proof seal and of course the fact that Nola mayonnaise is just too good to give up without a fight.

"In the process of the cat fight in the supermarket aisle, two women literally 'lose their grip' - not to mention composure - and a third shopper in an adjacent aisle grabs hold of the Nola PET bottle that comes bouncing along from under the shelf - a play on the old adage of two dogs fighting over a bone."
