    Loeries alert!

    The call for entries only goes out at the end of May, so nobody need panic just yet! The official Loeries website www.theloerieawards.co.za launches tomorrow, Thursday, 12 May 2005, and will provide all basic info. Main sponsors have also been confirmed.

    Main sponsors for The Loerie Awards are confirmed as: M-Net; Media24; Kulula.com; Brandhouse; SAB and Yfm.

    Bizcommunity.com and The Loeries Awards committee have been inundated with emails from the industry, wanting to enter and yes, even book for Margate for Loeries in October! The entry deadline is 31 July, and eligibility is also until 31 July.

    When the call for entries opens, the full registration and information site will be live. In the interim, all queries can be directed to: .

    In the meantime, these are the most important dates to diarise:
    Call for entries opens: 31 May 2005
    Closing of entries and eligibility deadline: 31 July 2005
    Awards ceremony: 15 & 16 October 2005

    The Loerie Awards CEO, Andrew Human, has been at pains to address the industry's concerns about the radical change in venue in recent weeks, pointing out that Margate is not a civilisation backwater, in that it has basic home comforts and services such as water and electricity, and many watering holes for thirsty creatives!

    In addition, the Margate business community has banded together to provide a warm welcome to all Loeries visitors, ensuring that:

  • there are 24-hour emergency services;
  • 24-hour lifeguards on the beach;
  • 24-hour room service from all the fast food places in town;
  • shuttle services between all the accommodation venues and hotels and entertainment.

    All the necessary comforts! (Now where do I find high-heeled flip flops...?)
