Smaller size, bigger benefits
Earlier this week, 1time Airline revealed the new format of its in-flight magazine, abouTime. Now small enough to fit into a handbag, the new size also has added benefits for the airline itself. “The weight difference of the magazine in its current format is over 156 grams per magazine. It equates to almost a 2 ton weight saving in fuel per annum, as 1% of an item's weight is what we burn in fuel…therefore, there's a 1% saving on the weight difference per flight. As well as a printing cost saving of 25%, which we'll pump straight back into the magazine numbers and print more for our passengers to take home with them,” explained Anya Potgieter, marketing manager of 1time Airline.
