Senior staff promotions at FHM

The following promotions have been implemented at UpperCase Media with immediate effect.

Kim Browne, currently Associate Publisher of FHM has been promoted to Publisher: FHM.

Louis Eksteen, currently Publisher of FHM has been promoted to Publishing Director: UpperCase Media (publishers of FHM).

Kim Browne holds a BA from the University of Natal (Durban), a post-graduate Higher Diploma in Journalism from Rhodes University (Grahamstown) and a Certificate in Marketing from the IMM, where she won the prize as Best Student.

Louis Eksteen holds an MBL from the Unisa Graduate School of Business Leadership, a B Comm Honours (Marketing) from the University of Pretoria and a Higher Diploma in Journalism from the Technikon Pretoria.

Louis and Kim were instrumental in launching FHM in South Africa three-and-a-half years ago, through the structure of a joint venture company (UpperCase Media Pty Ltd), owned 50/50 by Media24 and Emap plc. Media24 is South Africa's most successful magazine publishing group, while Emap plc is one of the biggest media companies in the UK, publishing market-leading magazines in a large variety of consumer and business-to-business categories.

FHM is a very successful, established magazine brand in South Africa, posting a healthy operating profit in its third year of existence. The current ABC total net sales circulation of FHM for the period July to December 2002 is 82 432. Strong further circulation growth is expected for the FHM brand.

UpperCase Media plans to launch additional magazine brands as and when opportunities appear in the South African market. The company is planning to grow organically by capitalising on its unique magazine and branding expertise via new magazine launches in South Africa.
