Bay Harbour Market closed for safety upgrade

Hout Bay's Bay Harbour Market had to recently shut its doors as a result of critical upgrades that needed to be done on the premises in order to adhere to the strict fire regulations that are essential in doing business in the City of Cape Town.
Bay Harbour Market closed for safety upgrade

"This type of market environment is constantly changing and, quite frankly, we have been bowled over and somewhat taken by surprise by the numbers of visitors that we have had through our doors since we opened, not to mention the way our traders have themselves developed their stalls," say Bay Harbour Market founders Paul Rutzen and Anthony Stroebel.

"This has required that we better evaluate the environment from a safety perspective, particularly as far as fire is concerned. We are sorry that we have had to close our doors for a few weeks at this time, but when it comes to public safety there really is no room for compromise. We have therefore been working day and night with the necessary professionals and city officials in order to ensure that our doors will open again as soon as possible. This break has also given us the opportunity to make further changes to the venue to improve the visitor experience even further."

Capetonians can visit the Bay Harbour Market website and Facebook to see when the doors will reopen again.
