Grey to represent SA at London International Awards

Mike Barnwell, executive creative director at Grey South Africa, has been chosen as a radio judge for the London International Awards (LIA). He was also a judge in the same category at the Clio's earlier this year.

He explains South African radio does well, very well, at international awards. “Over the past few years, South Africa has consistently proven that we're a force to be reckoned with within the radio category, having picked up Pencils at D&AD, Gold Lions at Cannes and everything else in between. And based on the great start that South Africa has already had this year, I'm hoping that our good fortune will continue.”

One should not forget either, he says, how radio is a powerful medium, providing creatives with the opportunity to stretch the listener's imagination and really make an impact, especially in countries like South Africa, where radio listenership is still high.

The awards will take place in London on 16 November 2009.
