This third review, which provides large and small businesses with information that enables them to be continuously relevant to an evolving marketplace, will be followed by the first Digital Lab workshop mounted by Studio 4332, an affiliate of proximity worldwide.

Ten of the country's leading thinkers, in a broad array of disciplines, will gather to present their insights into trends beyond the economic meltdown at this one-day conference. It will identify and analyse global macro trends - from politics, religion and youth culture to media, entertainment and technology - that affect social dynamics and therefore all business interactions.

Commenting on the review, Chang pointed out the significance of the partnership with BlackBerry, “They're on the cutting edge of communication, which echoes the core philosophy of the review - understanding trends so that you can always work ahead of the curve and have the competitive edge. The review will cut through the clutter and table dominant trends for marketers, strategists, corporate executives and media to mine for insights and business opportunities."

Digital Lab

On Friday 26 February, the Digital Lab will focus on the use of digital approaches to branding and marketing - with international proximity worldwide speakers giving a global perspective. The workshop will provide an overview of what digital means in general, what it means for South Africa, what the global digital trends are - including case studies and how digital can be used in the local South African context.

“The combination of review and digital lab brings an opportunity for marketers and business strategists to immerse themselves in the world of ideas and trends on a scale and at a level of impact equivalent to that of Tent London,” states Studio 4332 MD, Brendan Wade. This is a UK show for forward-thinking design across all disciplines - delivering the best in contemporary and vintage design, architecture and interiors and includes digital.

Studio 4332 executive creative director, Stu Stobbs, says that “because Dion Chang and Studio 4332 share a belief in the unlimited power of multidisciplinary creative thinkers who have the skill to execute innovation at many different levels and in many different formats to transform businesses, we plan to make this an annual event.

Collaboration

Chang believes that collaboration has become essential business practice in the 21st century. “It's mutually beneficial not only for the companies that are collaborating, but also for the consumers, who receive double benefits. The collaboration between these two is a perfect partnership. The review provides a 360-degree look at trends shaping our world, while the lab provides a more focused look at cutting edge technologies that drive businesses today. This partnered event will, therefore, be essential brain food for 2010 and attendees will come away with a competitive edge for their business."

Speakers

Proximity worldwide speakers at Digital Lab will include Kevin Allen, global head of planning, and Simon Bond, global head of development. The full list of speakers and topics will be announced at the beginning of January. Go to www.fluxtrends.co.za for more information.
