The official launch of the new magazine, Green Home will take place at the Green Building Conference and Exhibition at the Sandton Convention Centre, Johannesburg on 13 July 2011 and Fairlady is boosting its monthly beauty section to 40 pages monthly and fashion to 27 pages from the May 2011 issue.

Alive2green, publishers of handbooks and websites on sustainability, including the Green Building Handbook, will publish Green Home, described as upmarket, quality coffee-table publication offering focused editorial directed at the issues of sustainability and passive design in and around the home.

Top local and international design experts will contribute articles, interviews and regular columns and the magazine includes step-by-step guides and DIY features for readers and designers and a dedicated section for the design professional. The Green Home website (www.greenhomemagazine.co.za) offers readers and subscribers additional content and value-add features and services.

More beauty, more fashion

"The women of South Africa have spoken and Fairlady listened," says Suzy Brokensha, editor of the magazine. "We realised that our readers wanted more in-depth beauty content, with valuable advice and trend guidance that can be trusted. This prompted the team to revamp our beauty section, providing readers with more trend information, hot tips and a much bigger showcase for the many products, procedures and treatments currently on the market."

In this light, the magazine has more than doubled its number of beauty pages, from an average of 12 to 40 pages, reportedly the first South African women's glossy title to give beauty such a prominent platform. "We will shop for, share and showcase everything that the Fairlady reader needs to feel like the most beautiful woman in the room," added Brokensha.

Fashion conscious readers are also in for a treat, as the magazine's fashion coverage will be upped as well. "We have increased the number of pages dedicated to fashion to 27. That brings the combined fashion and beauty sections to a total of 67 pages and the magazine to 276 pages."
