Get Real

Reality magazine, Real, has launched in South Africa. Linked to the Endemol produced SABC1 show 'All You Need is Love', the magazine goes far beyond the show content to offer something unique to its target market.

All You Need is Love has moved to a prime time slot on Tuesdays at 8:30pm and will now be broadcast just after Generations. SABC statistics rate the show as the second most popular on television, after Generations.

Jonathan Harris, MD of Sudden Thought Ventures, and publisher of Real says, "It's a very unique marketing platform and we're targeting viewers and informing them about the magazine when they're most receptive- during the show. Research has shown that 'All You Need Is Love' reaches a huge percentage of the magazine's target market, black females between 18 and 34."

The shows supervising producer Terja Beney affirms, "the magazine has been designed to target the same market as the show, and if the interactive add-ons on the show's website are anything to measure viewer interest - this magazine is going to be a hit."

SABC1 is also supporting the Real launch with airtime in the form of 15s TV promo's, 30s radio ads across the five language radio stations and other links to SABC1 shows.
