Myburgh Chemaly previously edited titles such as Food and Home Entertaining, Style and Elle before freelancing - a period in which she frequently contributed to Visi as a writer. This year she was also involved in the makeover of bridal magazine Wedding Inspirations.

"We are absolutely delighted to welcome Jacquie to the team! She is one of South Africa's most creative, talented and successful editors. We are looking forward to her introducing a fresh perspective to the magazine," says Visi's editorial director Sumien Brink.

Thrilled

Myburgh Chemaly says she is thrilled to be joining SA's leading design magazine and looks forward to working with the team to take Visi into a new era. "Publishing is a fascinating place to be right now and Visi is the dream title with which to explore innovative and exciting opportunities."

This news comes at a busy time for the magazine, which recently celebrated its 50th issue by hosting the Visi Top 50 Design exhibition at the iArt Gallery in Cape Town in association with Absolut Vodka.

The Visiteam is also finalising a marketing campaign with creative agency Net#work BBDO, which will be launched with Visi 51, on sale from 13 October. Design expert Trevyn McGowan serves as guest editor on this issue, which promises more of the cutting-edge design and photography for which Visi is known.

First issue

Myburgh Chemaly's first issue with the magazine will be on sale in December. She will be primarily based in Johannesburg. Follow her on Twitter at @JMyburgh.
