Protecting women's bodies

As a leading retailer with a voice in every major city across the world, The Body Shop is using its global presence to help put a stop to violence in the home and protect women and children everywhere through its 'Stop Violence in the Home' campaign.

The campaign was initially launched across the world in 2003 and aims to help victims of domestic violence. The campaign has been successfully rolled out across the globe and is now running in 20 countries.

In October 2005, The Body Shop will be launching the next phase of its campaign in South Africa.

Carol Poolton of The Body Shop South Africa says: "The Body Shop is committed to bringing about positive change in people's lives, campaigning on issues that are most relevant to our customers and where it is believed most impact can be made. The Body Shop is focusing its global energy and resources on one issue in particular - domestic violence."

You can help by visiting your nearest Body Shop store from October 2005 and purchasing a 'Stop Violence in the Home' Mint Care lip balm, keyring or badge - proceeds of which will be donated to a chosen charity.

Alternatively, you can 'Donate a phone to save a life' - any cellular phone which you no longer use can be handed in at any Body Shop store. These will be reprogrammed and distributed to shelters for abused women and children.
