Purpose of role:
As a marketing assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the department's operations and activities. This position is highly administrative and operational, often coordinating workflows to ensure smooth execution of departmental tasks. You will oversee procurement processes, assist with internal events and communications, and take ownership of assigned marketing initiatives, contributing to the department's overall success.
Key responsibilities:
- Primary support for all functions within the marketing department
- Address any queries received from suppliers
- Action the relevant process to ensure supplier payments are made timeously
- Key liaison for partners and briefing partner requests
- Ensure marketing material is on product stores and manage the stock with the warehouse
- Identify opportunities with partners to promote our products
- Manage the marketing department mailbox and evaluate sponsorship requests
- Arrange branding and marketing items for sponsorship events or partners
- Contribute to the departmental strategic planning
- Ensure marketing materials are distributed timeously to internal and external partners
- Keep up-to-date new developments in the market place
- Assist with gathering market intelligence and trade research
- Keep informed and up-to-date on the marketing strategy
- Keep informed and up-to-date on the performance of marketing initiatives
- Provide ideas and input for the marketing strategy and tactics

Skills and experience required:
- Grade 12 or equivalent (Essential)
- Related tertiary qualification (Essential): A qualification in marketing, communication, or a related field.
- Two-plus years experience in a marketing support role (Essential)
- Knowledge of the informal market and target audience behaviour (Desirable)
- Brief interpretation:Skill in understanding and translating client expectations into effective briefs
