Job title: Senior product manager – TP-Link

Area: Midrand, Gauteng, South Africa

Salary / CTC: R 50,000 – R 58,000 (depending on current earnings, qualifications, and experience)

Report to: Operations director

Job summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving internal TP-Link sales and product processes to achieve targets, acting as a bridge between the internal brand team, the organisation’s sales teams, and the vendor.

Key responsibilities:
  • Understand and implement the client’s strategy and policies in alignment with the product
  • Provide product support (PDF spec sheets, web info, sales support, and customer support – systems integrators)
  • Produce and review reports and target tracking information
  • Engage with all relevant parties at our client and subsidiary companies
  • Ensure product pricing and product positioning are relevant and updated
  • Assist sales staff in producing accurate quotations
  • Assist stakeholders with product codes, price lists, and costing
  • Maintain price lists on internal systems
  • Ensure all stakeholders are aligned
  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales support to sales teams
  • Drive sales and orders on active and ageing stock strategically
  • Manage web page product updates
  • Attend weekly sales meetings and assist in resolving stock issues
  • Support the logistics and warehouse teams with vendor recalls
  • Process sales orders and purchase orders on ERP system from local and international suppliers
  • Assist in the operations and usage of the ‘order managing process’ to maintain service and stock levels
  • Manage and track rebates and incentives received from suppliers
  • Liaise with suppliers for procurement, receipt, and utilisation of promotional funds and materials
  • Maintain relationships with customers to understand their requirements and incorporate these into the stock forecasting
  • Facilitate, organise, and provide relevant product training internally and to the different branches
  • Keep up-to-date and continuously improve and develop product knowledge
  • Stay constantly updated with all developments and trends in the retail and consumer market
Experience and knowledge:
  • A minimum of five years of working experience in a product management environment
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a distribution environment
  • IT distribution experience will be an advantage
  • Networking knowledge and understanding will be very beneficial
  • Must understand the IT market and the specific needs around the different market segments (sub-distributors, select resellers, resellers, and end-users)
  • Understanding of product knowledge
  • Understanding technology roadmaps
  • Understanding the logistics/warehouse process
  • Experience working in IT sales will be an advantage
  • Retail experience will be advantageous
  • Business networking skills and experience
  • Experience working in a customer service environment
Skills and education:
  • Matric with mathematics is essential
  • Sales and marketing tertiary qualification and/or a relevant diploma will be an advantage
  • Above-average administration skills with attention to detail
  • Excel spreadsheet knowledge in drawing up and utilising reports (stock management, product reordering, ageing stock, etc.)
  • Customer service and service quality orientated
  • Good time management
  • Negotiation skills
  • Tactful and diplomatic
  • Effective communicator – able to liaise and manage communication between various stakeholders
  • Good written communication
