Media Relations whizz needed asap – Cultivate Communications PR Agency

We have an interesting opportunity for a person with a nose for news and the ability to sell ice to an Eskimo i.e. who can pitch the media with aplomb and confidence. Our client base is specifically in the business, financial, investor, SME, social impact and marketing sectors and we work with e.g. Debt Rescue, The StartUP Act, offshore wealth experts Levantine & Co and Fairtree, among others.

• Our need is for the person to come on board ASAP and have capacity for a ½ day until the end of October 2024 – with an option to renew should it be needed.
• The chosen candidate will work from home (although our office is in Kalk Bay) and can choose their +- 4 – 5 daily hours that work around their schedule – unless there is a specific deadline that we need to coincide with.
• As an agency, we are very news-focused, and our content is always underpinned by strong insight and relevant, up-to-date data. The need is not for any writing of the e.g. op-ed or press release, but rather the compilation of the pitch based on the key angles that would have been identified upfront by the senior team.
• This is a non-client-facing role. Instead, the person will work directly with Rebecca Cronje and Rebecca Atherstone but have a cultivated email.
• This half-day position is available immediately and will be required until the end of October. Remuneration is negotiable and will be based on hours – at a Rand per hour fee - worked vs. a set fee per month.

Required

• Confidence to speak on the phone to senior media and editors
• A people's person with a calm sense of self 
• Ability to write a strong, news-worthy pitch
• Understands the need for urgency and how to pitch a newsy story within a select period 
• Is committed to going above and beyond to get PR results that matter 
• Compilation of PR reports at the end of the month - attention to detail
