Mike le Plastrier is the managing director of Invensys Operations Management Southern Africa.
Educated at St Benedicts College in Bedfordview and obtained a BSc (Elec Eng) at Wits in 1974 and an MBA from UCT GSB in 1984, Mike le Plastrier spent two years working at ICI (Imperial Chemical Industries) in the UK before returning to work in South Africa.
In 1985 he was part of a new company which specialised in large project management. During this period Mike ventured into the first version of a software replacement for the ubiquitous control room Mimic Panel. The product was called Plant View and rapidly gained acceptance in the South African environment. With the advent of Windows and OS2, the Wonderware product started to make a name globally and Mike acquired the rights to the product for Southern Africa.
This led to the formation of Futuristix - the sole purpose was to market, sell and support the Wonderware product set. It was an exciting time as Wonderware enjoyed a very aggressive marketing image both locally and globally - and was able to live up to the expectations it created.
In 2002 Mike sold the Wonderware business to EOH. Under Asher Bohbot, EOH has enjoyed exceptional growth over its lifetime to become one of the largest business and technology providers in Southern Africa.
Wonderware has continued to grow and to this day and enjoys market leadership in just about every field it plays. While the South African office would like to claim some title to this growth, such sustained leadership can only come through continued high product quality from the original USA based Wonderware developers and of course from strong local customer support.
In 2011, Invensys, the global owner of the Wonderware brand, decided it wanted a direct Invensys presence in South Africa. It has now partnered with EOH to represent the full Invensys range of business in South Africa. Mike heads up the business - known as Invensys Operations Management Southern Africa.
