CBFM 107.9 not to appoint new station manager as yet
CBFM 107.9’s Station Manager, Zane Derbyshire, resigned from his duties at the station last Tuesday, 1 July 2003. He will be joining Algoa FM from 1 August 2003. He will however hand over his duties to various individuals on Friday 11 July 2003.
CBFM’s board decided in a meeting on Monday evening 7 July 2003 not to appoint a Station Manager as yet, but have divided the station into 5 workgroups. These include Sales & Marketing; Admin & Finance; Music & Production; Programming and Technical.
There were 5 applicants who applied for the position and they have each been given one of the 5 workgroups to manage as group leader. Luvuyo Bangazi will be heading Sales & Marketing (luvuyo@cbfm.co.za or 084-811-3092); Juan Dorfling will be heading Admin & Finance (juan@cbfm.co.za or 082-513-7098); Wayne Hart will be heading Music & Production (wayne@cbfm.co.za or 084-514-4694); Rodney K will be heading Programming ( rodney@cbfm.co.za or 082-940-1721) and Jason Perry will be heading Technical (jasonp@cbfm.co.za or 082-334-5004).
Anyone that has any queries regarding CBFM can contact the various group leaders for the next 3 months (August to September 2003) should they need to know more about a specific segment of the station.
This procedure is in line with the CBFM board’s strategy to play a more active role in the managing of the station and ensuring that the community’s interests are put first at CBFM, as it has always been.
The board wished Zane Derbyshire well with the move in his career and wishes him every success at Algoa FM. InZane, as he is known to listeners also wraps up his shows at the station this week, and does his last CBFM show during DecaDance this Friday evening, 11 July 2003 from 6-10pm.
