Job descriptionJob title: Junior Accountant / BookkeeperArea: Rooihuiskraal , CenturionIndustry: AccountingSalary / CTC: R 18,000 – R 25,000Report to: DirectorJob Summary:The junior accountant/bookkeeper will be responsible for managing and recording all financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments. The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring the company’s financial records are accurate and up-to-date and will provide support to the Senior Accountant and Financial Manager. Key responsibilities:Financial record keeping:- Maintain accurate and complete financial records, including ledgers, journals, and other financial documents.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including managing invoices and ensuring timely payments.
Bank reconciliation:- Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are recorded and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
General ledger maintenance:- Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
- Assist in maintaining the general ledger and preparing trial balances.
Payroll processing:- Assist with payroll processing, including calculating and recording employee earnings and deductions.
Financial reporting:- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Provide support in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
Tax compliance:- Ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulations.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of tax returns.
Budgeting and forecasting:- Assist in the development of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and report variances.
Audit support:- Assist in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Ensure compliance with internal control policies and procedures.
Administrative duties:- Perform administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and maintaining financial databases.
- Respond to inquiries from clients, suppliers, and colleagues regarding financial matters.
Qualifications:Education:- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- SAIPA / CIMA registration
Experience:- Minimum of two years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) is preferred.
Skills:- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge:- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Understanding of financial regulations and standards.
- Familiarity with tax laws and compliance requirements.
