Job title: Junior Claims Administrator – Short Term

Area: Pretoria

Report to: Claims Team Leader

Job Summary:

The overall purpose of the Junior Claims Consultant is to effectively capture and manage claims while proactively and constantly providing updates to clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering excellent client services from first notification of loss to claims closure.
  • Recording claim information including details about loss, date etc and informing client of requirements and next steps.
  • Ensuring that claims are processed in an accurate and timely manner, mitigating claims cost in accordance with policy guidelines.
  • Providing client service to clients regarding claim status updates and progress reports.
  • Answer telephonic and e-mail queries from clients and stakeholders.
  • Risk management awareness and understanding.
  • Reviewing records and other documentation to determine the validity of claims.
  • Review rejections and draft rejection letters to be signed off by the Underwriter and send to client.
  • Build, maintain and manage relationships with stakeholders
Required skills and qualifications:

Minimum qualifications
  • Matric Certificate.
  • RE5.
  • Additional qualifications in insurance or administration will be advantageous.

Minimum Experience
  • At least 2 years’ experience in non-motor claims handling in a Call Centre environment in the Insurance industry.

Skills Required
  • Specialist knowledge and skills with regards to Insurance policies/ procedures.
  • Computer Literate (Excel, Word & Outlook).
  • Excellent verbal, written and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent telephonic service ability.
  • Vernacular an advantage.
  • Understand importance of confidentiality with regards to clients’ financial information.

Working Conditions
  • Standard office environment with occasional need to attend meetings or training sessions.
  • May require occasional overtime during peak periods.
