Main purpose of the job:

The Media Planner will play an integral part in supporting our Media Buying department with media planning and scheduling of campaigns for our clients across the agency.

The Planner will monitor and analyse the media performance of various campaigns and stations, and aid in the development of media plans and strategies to optimize media for our clients. The Planner will be responsible for entering all the Media Buyer’s media orders and logs in an accurate and timely manner and will act as the liaison between the Media Buyer and the different types of media channels.

Main responsibilities:

As a media planner, you'll need to:
  • Create Media plan on different type of media: television, radio, new media, cinema.
  • Work with the client and the Media team to understand the client's brief and advertising strategy.
  • Make decisions on the best form of media for specific clients and campaigns.
  • Undertake research and analyse data using specialist industry resources.
  • Identify target audiences and analyse their characteristics, behaviour and media habits
  • Present proposals, including cost schedules, to clients.
  • Recommend the most appropriate types of media to use, as well as the most effective time spans and locations.
  • Work with colleagues, other departments and media buyers to develop media strategies and campaigns.
  • Manage client relationships to build respect and gain their trust in your judgement
  • Maintain detailed records
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of campaigns
  • Develop and adhere timelines for all required report and other ad-hoc request
Key competencies/skills:
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in media planning; preferably in a media agency
  • Understanding of Above the line basics
  • Experience with Telmar, Nielsens data usage and analytics
  • You have intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • You are a multitasker and possess strong prioritisation skills when managing multiple projects at once.
  • You are detailed oriented, well organised and able to thrive in a deadline-driven environment.
  • You are self-motivated; inquisitive, proactive and display strong initiative (learns/ask questions, applies, grows)
  • You perform well under pressure, while maintaining accuracy and professional demeanor.
  • You enjoy working in a collaborative environment as well as individually.
  • You can interact with people at all levels of the organisation and foster strong cross-functional teamwork.
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
