Responsibilities:Employee relations: - Serve as the primary liaison for employees and management to address workplace concerns, complaints, and grievances, ensuring timely and equitable resolution
- Investigate and resolve employee disputes and conflicts
- Promote and implement strategies to foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, aligning with our diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
- Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of IR policies, procedures, and other HR initiatives and systems
- Act as an HR business partner, implementing human resources strategies and handling day-to-day responsibilities
- Provide HR guidance to team members and managers, setting high expectations of behaviour and performance
Discipline management and dispute resolution: - Assist in administering the disciplinary process, including issuing warnings and ensuring due process compliance
- Coordinate, manage, and attend disciplinary hearings and documentation
- Maintain accurate records of disciplinary actions
- Mediate disputes and facilitate effective resolution between employees or employees and management
- Represent the company at the CCMA when required
HR operations: - Champion the company's values, mission, and vision
- Support the implementation of organisational change initiatives to improve business operations and customer satisfaction
- Provide HR expertise on people management, performance management, succession planning, recruitment, onboarding, induction, and terminations
- Collaborate with management to discuss and resolve people-related challenges
- Plan and organise employee wellness interventions and events
- Liaise with learning and development on training opportunities and relevant interventions for employees
Compliance: - Stay updated on South African labour laws and regulations to ensure the company complies with legal requirements
- Develop and conduct IR training to enhance leadership capabilities
- Assist in executing predefined HR projects and ad hoc duties
Knowledge and skills:- Five to ten years of operational experience in labour relations and HR generalist roles
- Strong knowledge of South African employment law (LRA, BCEA, EEA, Skills Development Act, etc.) and health and safety legislation
- Proven track record with CCMA representation and conflict management
- Diligent with meticulous attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Planning and organisational skills
- Relationship-building skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism
Education:- Degree or diploma in human resources management, industrial relations, or labour law
