Are you a seasoned database administrator with a passion for leading technical teams and driving innovation? An international company, currently experiencing significant growth, is seeking a highly skilled database administrator technical lead to join their dynamic team. This permanent position is based in Durban and offers a flexible hybrid work model.

Location: Durban (Hybrid Work Model)

Experience required: Six + years

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of database administrators, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
• Design, implement, and maintain robust database systems, ensuring high performance, availability, and security.
• Manage and optimise databases using PostgreSQL and MS SQL, addressing any issues promptly and effectively.
• Develop and enforce database standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support various projects and initiatives.
• Conduct performance tuning, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
• Stay current with emerging database technologies and trends to drive innovation within the team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
• Six + years of experience in database administration with a strong focus on PostgreSQL and MS SQL.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and managing large-scale database environments.
• Strong understanding of database design, optimisation, and troubleshooting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work model, demonstrating strong self-motivation and time management skills.
