Engen Woolworths ''food stops'' now in Gauteng

After a highly successful three-year trial at two Cape Town sites, Woolworths and Engen have announced that they have opened three new Engen Woolworths "food stops" in Gauteng.

The existing "food stops" at Engen Oranje and Engen Meadowridge have provided Woolworths with valuable opportunities to offer customers 24-hour access to their brand in a safe and convenient environment. The relationship between these two market leaders creates a quality platform that benefits both brands.

"Engen Woolworths "food stops" enable us to position Woolworths in non-traditional sites that offer 24-hour convenience," comments Richard Butt, Woolworths Director Foods. "We now know that in Cape Town we can meet the challenge of delivering the same quality product offering outside of the Woolworths environment and it is now time to test the concept in Gauteng before a decision on a national roll-out is made."

Jan Badenhorst, General Manager of Engen Sales and Marketing, had the following to say "Engen is extremely excited about this truly innovative concept, which brings two of the leading South African brands together, to offer a new dimension in convenience shopping, choice and quality to our customers at prime locations around the country".

The three new Engen Woolworths "food stops" will be mini-markets carrying carefully selected products from the fresh food and convenience ranges to meet the specific needs of Engen's 24-hour customers. There is food for now – ranges of convenience foods (ready-prepared meals) that provide healthy alternatives to take-aways; and there is food for later – something for dinner tonight or something to pick up en route to a braai.

Engen Woolworths "food stops" recently opened at Engen Atterbury North Service Station, Menlyn North on Atterbury Road and Engen Edenburg Convenience Centre on Rivonia Road and at Engen William Nicol Convenience Centre. Gauteng commuters can look forward to the convenience of purchasing Woolworths quality food products (at the same price) 24 hours a day.
