Branding News South Africa

New look for Emthunzini Hats brand

A new logo for Emthunzini Hats, the sunhat company that sells only UPF50+ hats, emphasises the African nature and South African origin of the product. This branding is also carried through into a new website that aims to be more user-friendly, allowing customers to browse through the online catalogue and make purchases through the online shop.

The company has not changed the fundamental elements of the brand but has breathed some new life into its existing design and logo. The hand-illustrated tree shape for the logo now refers to an "acacia" tree, which is iconic and recognizable as an African symbol. The South African flag colours are incorporated to finish off the logo and tie it all together to inspire a happy and unique image for the product.

Owner, Gilly Ord, says, "Our products are of a high quality and cater to a wide audience, so our new image had to convey a sense of style without becoming too modern or slick."

The company has recently launched a bright and colourful new collection of chic, crushable and UV resistant hats that is said to block out over 98% of the sun's ultraviolet rays. The sunny and contemporary range caters for the entire family with over 20 fashionable styles that combines the familiar favourites with more global trendy designs.

All hats carry the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) Seal of Recognition and are available from various retail outlets throughout South Africa. For more, go to www.sunhats.co.za.
