Total TV viewing is holding steady, although it is tending towards growth, with penetration up 0.7 percentage points over the previous survey.

Total TV viewing stands at 67.3%, with 20.409-million 'yesterday' viewers - up in Gauteng, Reef, and on the East Rand, and amongst 35-49s. (Please note that SAARF TAMS is the official TV currency.)

Two stations grew their 'Yesterday' penetration significantly:

  • e.tv: up significantly from 36.5% to 37.8%, with 11.461-million viewers. Growth has taken place amongst females, 35-49s, and in SU-LSM 4.
  • SABC 2: showing recovery, growing significantly from 25.8% to 27.7%, with 8.400-million viewers. Growth took place in metros, KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, Bloemfontein, amongst females, people aged 35+ and in SU-LSM 1-5.

'Yesterday' figures for the other channels are:

  • DStv (total): 4.2%, 1.270-million viewers.
  • M-Net Main Service: 4.9%, 1.498-million viewers. The channel is down in SU-LSM 10.
  • SABC 1: 49.6%, with 15.027-million viewers, up amongst 35-49 year-olds.
  • SABC 3: 18.0%, 5.446-million viewers, with declines in the Cape Town fringe.
