Winners of 2016 FEDHASA Youth Bursary Fund

The FEDHASA Cape Youth Bursary is open to students and trainees currently in the employ or studying at FEDHASA Cape member institutions and establishments. Entrants should have successfully completed their second year of study and have entered or will be entering their third year of study. The bursary is specifically allocated to tuition fees, and the total value of the 2016 bursaries was R50,000. The latest recipients are all Hospitality Management students at Cape Town Hotel School.

Adrian Less, a second year student is driven, motivated and passionate about his future in the hospitality industry. Difficult circumstances forced him to take on part-time work and although this has disrupted his studies temporarily in the past, he has returned to complete his course.

Paballo Lilly Leseli, a third year student at Cape Town Hotel School is on track to do a BTech degree next year. Hard-working, entrepreneurial in spirit and a great communicator who is full of passion for her chosen career path, Leseli has a great desire to give back and hopes one day to make a difference to hospitality industry skills through her own business efforts.

Chad Cameron Fray, another second year student at Cape Town Hotel School has had to overcome personal challenges to stay with his studies. The trials of his young life so far and his perseverance with his studies have highlighted his dedication to his commitment to his dream to start his own hospitality business one day.

“When you consider that it is estimated that the hospitality industry will generate roughly R161 billion per year of South Africa’s GDP by 2017, one of our great assets is the rising stars currently in the educational system who deserve our attention and support,” said Rob Kucera, chairman of FEDHASA Cape, which uses the proceeds of its Golf Day fundraiser each year to make meaningful contributions to the tuition of current hospitality students.
