Team Ford Racing to continue their Eastern Cape assault

Team Ford Racing will be hoping to continue their impressive results as they head to East London for the sixth round of the Bridgestone Production Car Championship.

The event will be held on 3 September and could be a turning point in the championship.

Gary Formato currently lies third in the Class T point's standings in his BP / Castrol backed Focus ST. This position is not however a true reflection of his remarkable 2011 season. Formato has taken the most victories of any driver this season and is the only driver to win a race at every event.

The team achieved two podium finishes in East London last year, which bodes well for their chances on 3 September.

"We have unfortunately lost some ground to the class leader and whilst our road to championship glory has hit a few speed bumps, we are still well on course and a victory in East London will keep us in the hunt," commented Formato.

Shaun Duminy did a sterling job at the last event in Port Elizabeth and will be hoping to continue his winning ways at the historic East London circuit.

"I had a great outing in Port Elizabeth and am hoping to carry this momentum through to East London. My Focus ST has huge amounts of power and is handling exceptionally well. We have a great package under us and with a strong fan base behind us, the sky is the limit," enthused Duminy.

The team will have just three practice sessions on Friday afternoon before tackling qualifying and four races on Saturday.
