Amajita Beat Nigeria

The South African National Under-20 side, Amajita retained their unbeaten record in the 2009 African Youth Championships yesterday in Rwanda.

Amajita beat Nigeria 2-1 in their Group B's Second Match to go top of the group and became the tournament's only team with a 100% winning record with two games and two wins.

Yesterday's results have qualified Amajita for the World Championships which will be held in Egypt later this year.

Coach Serame Letsoaka expressed his delight on how the game was won by South Africa's young heroes ”The mood here in the camp is truly unbelievable, this is what the beautiful game is all about. These boys came here and played their hearts out for their country, I'm confident that they will continue to play with pride and passion throughout the tournament,” Said Letsoaka.

South Africa scored both their goals in the second half of this encounter, Moroka Swallows' young talent, Phumelele “Ace” Bhengu scored the first and George Maluleka from Supersport United secured the winning goal.

Amajita will face Egypt on Monday 26 January 2009 for their final group match.
