MFSA launches learnership project

The Marketing Federation of Southern Africa (mfsa) has launched a countrywide learnership project, providing students with the opportunity to get on the job training in the areas of Marketing Communications, Sales and Marketing, Brand Management, and Customer Management.

Says Michelle Serfontein, consultant at the mfsa: "The learnership project is aimed at enabling learners to take part in a structured learning program that combines theory and the application thereof in the workplace, ultimately culminating in a whole qualification."

There are currently 75 learners taking part in the project, all of which have been placed with host companies in industries ranging from education to property to healthcare.

Besides hosting these learners, the mfsa as a professional body is also involved in marketing learnerships in other ways, and plays a critical part in the successful implementation of learnerships.

Says Serfontein: "The mfsa is contracted by the Services SETA to manage the certification and recognition of prior learning of learners on learnerships, and we oversee the implementation of all marketing learnerships in South Africa.

"In addition, we are ideally positioned to assist employers in participating in the marketing learnerships as we are able to provide companies with information on learnerships, give guidance on its implementation, assist in recruitment and help with the development of assessment tools and learning materials for the curriculum.

"Basically, we are a one-stop shop for employers, learners and accredited providers who want to get involved in the implementation of learnerships."

More information on marketing learnerships can be found on the mfsa website at www.mfsa.co.za. The mfsa can also be contacted on +27 +11 832 3500 or .
