Joburg criminals cash in on Bieber, Bon Jovi millions

NEWSWATCH: According to IOL, on Sunday evening after the Justin Bieber concert, thieves collected themselves what is suspected to be millions of rands from a strong room at FNB Stadium in Joburg. This is apparently not the only money that went missing recently, as Mail & Guardian reports that Jacaranda FM has suspended a DJ due to missing charity funds. IOL also reports that bus drivers are finally back at work after weeks of striking.

  • IOL:

    • Bieber millions stolen... It is actually quite impressive to think that there are such talented criminals in our country. It kind of reminds one of an "Oceans Eleven" type of job: accurately planned and seamlessly executed... well almost seamlessly. The police have reportedly lifted a number of fingerprints and shoe prints from the strong room at FNB Stadium from which thieves stole what is described as millions of rands which came from concession stands from both the Justin Bieber and Bon Jovi concerts.

Investigations are ongoing and it is suspected that the whole ordeal was an inside job.

    • Bus drivers back at work... Today is a good day for those citizens who rely on buses for public transportation as the bus strike, which has been ongoing since 19 April, has finally come to an end. After reaching an agreement of a 10% wage increase from October, bus drivers are now also insisting on allowances for housing, night-shifts, and long-distance journeys.

  • Mail & Guardian: Jacaranda FM fires DJ over missing charity funds... The Bieber and Bon Jovi money doesn't seem to be the only cash to have disappeared. Jacaranda FM DJ, Miguel Proenca, has been suspended after allegations that donated funds and prizes went missing. The prizes included electronic equipment worth R9000 donated by Makro, and two R5000 gift vouchers donated by Spar Lowveld.

Hopefully there is some logical explanation for this because to take money collected for a 10-year-old cancer sufferer is just, well, mean... Who does that?
