Women 2005 set to launch

This September sees the launch of Women 2005, the first show in South Africa to focus entirely on women. The show will be an experiential event, with the exhibits built around a centre stage featuring some of South Africa's most talented performers.

Women 2005 is designed to entertain visitors who will see Shifting Gear by Adidas and Shape Magazine, NIA demonstrations from the USA, Nike Dance followed by fashion shows by Polo, Ethnic Chic Designers, Nike Women and a Sensual Fashion Show by Dr Eve.

They can meet Miss South Africa, Miss Teen SA, Michael Mol, Nataniel and Michele van Breda, or party with the "Saturday Night Live" crew - Unathi and TK. Heinz Winckler from Idols fame will be singing on Friday, Karen Zoid will be doing an unplugged set at the opening ceremony and Electro Muse will round out the music programme every night. Irit Noble and friends will provide the humour at the Comedy hour.

The Old Mutual Women's Forum will offer South Africa's top speakers on topics like 'Your sex life', 'Starting and thriving in your business', 'World of Women' and 'How to be a Dinner Party Goddess'.

All these events are free to all visitors attending Women 2005.

David Wolstenholme of SE Shows and Events, Exhibition Director of Women 2005, says: "We want people to attend this event for three days rather than two hours, as the programme constantly changes. It is unlike any event ever seen here in South Africa.

"Women 2005 delivers a host of alternatives, solutions and choices to women and aims to be a totally interactive event where visitors are exposed to experiences, knowledge and products that will enhance and ultimately improve their lifestyles. Visitors can walk away after being thoroughly entertained, pampered, having enhanced their skills, greater knowledge and hundreds of new innovative ideas."

Primary sponsors of the show are First National Bank and the Gauteng Economic Development Agency, who will be hosting interactive workshops on money matters and women in business. Fairlady, Sarie, True Love and Shape will be bringing alive the diverse topics and information found in their pages.

Women 2005 takes place at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. Tickets can be bought at the door and cost R60. This covers the entrance cost to visit the show and all the live performances. A new live performance starts every 15 minutes during show days Friday through Sunday.

Opening times:

2-4 September 2005
Friday and Saturday 11am - 8pm
Sunday 11am - 6pm
