SI Explorers, based in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape, is an international partnership of over 20 specialist organisations ranging from universities and adventure sport gurus, to cutting edge business leaders and conservation organisations.
Using the world as the living classroom, they provide participants with invaluable exposure to different professional fields, ranging from art and psychology to environmental sciences, economics, technologies, entrepreneurship and innovation.
The team journey begins in South Africa and will move together through the programme visiting Mozambique, India, Nepal, Bhutan, USA, Costa Rica and Cuba. SI Explorers believe that life changing experiences need to be strongly focussed on experiential learning and as such each location has been selected to achieve specific learning outcomes.
Collective recognition for the year's activities is provided via the President's Award. This award is a well-established international system founded by the Duke of Edinburgh as a form of recognition for holistic educational experiences which combine outdoor adventure, sport, skills acquisition and community service.
The course commences in January 2013 and only 20 applicants from around the world will be admitted. The deadline for this year's applications is 23 September 2012. For more information, go to www.SIExplorers.org.
