Promised Land wins two SAGE Awards

Promised Land, South Africa's first feature film to be shot on HD (or HDTV, 'high definition television'), has won two prestigious production awards at the local SAGE (SA Guild of Editors) Awards this past weekend.

Promised Land was directed by Jason Xenopoulos and produced by David Wicht and Moonyeenn Lee. It picked up awards in the following categories:

1) The Chris Fellows Sound Studios Award for Sound Editing

  • Won by Julie van den Berg, Barry Donnelly and Mark Phillips (PROMISED LAND)

    [The other nominated films were MR BONES and THE LONG RUN]

    2) The Orchestra Blue Post Production Award For Editing Of A Feature Film

  • Won by Ronelle Loots (PROMISED LAND)

    [The other nominated films were SLASH and SECOND SKIN]

    Other editing awards were for a Wildlife film; short film; documentary;
    TV drama; music video; TV promo; short factual; and, student production.

    PROMISED LAND is scheduled for release on January 24, 2002 in South Africa.
