Connie Ferguson launches first SA celebrity fragrance

Actress, model, presenter, producer and philanthropist, Connie Ferguson, is making local history by being the first South African woman to launch her own celebrity fragrance, which has been named ‘True Self'.

“Scent is really the completion of any look,” says Ferguson, who is best known for her performance as Karabo in popular local soapie, Generations. “There is nothing else in a woman's armoury that has as much power over her environment as the sensuality of her fragrance. Finding the ideal perfume that offers you everything you're looking for in one perfect little bottle is much harder than finding a striking pair of heels or a great dress. Perfume is much more personal.”

Drawing on this belief, Ferguson and a team of South African scientists have developed True Self from an inspired combination of imported French oils that lend an oriental, woody musk flavour to the base notes which rise though green floral freshness into the citrus spicy top notes, aromatised with Mandarin and Pink Pepper. The new fragrance is formed with 15% French oils, making it a bone fide Eau de Parfum in keeping with the highest international fine perfume standards.

“South African women are busy,” says Ferguson. “We are looking for a perfume that performs throughout the day and makes that shift from day to night with ease and grace. The elements that make up True Self were carefully selected to cross seasons too, since South Africans don't recognise the clear cut four season cycle that Europeans do. Our summer and winter blend into each other with less distinction. Our sophistication lies in the ease of mingling that we have as South Africans and that is what True Self is intended to elicit in its wearer.”

Ferguson is not one to rest on her laurels and, as True Self hits the local shelves, she is already working on a True Self Body Lotion and Body Spray to begin a range of beauty products.

True Self is available at selected Foschini, Edgars and Truworths stores nationwide and can be purchased for R180 for 30ml or R245 for 50ml.
