Pregnant BB housemate leaves after one day

Michelle Carstens, the 12th Big Brother housemate to enter the house on Sunday night, informed her housemates today of her decision to make a voluntary exit from the Big Brother house after discovering that she is six weeks pregnant.

Michelle informed a member of the production team yesterday morning that she suspected she was pregnant after having taken a self pregnancy test. Due to preparations for the live Open time show yesterday the senior producers were only informed of her suspected pregnancy late yesterday afternoon, which made it impossible for Michelle to see a gynaecologist before entering the house.

At around 9pm on Sunday night Big Brother arranged for Michelle to see a specialist in the diary room who took a blood sample, the results of which this morning confirmed that she is pregnant. The specialist confirmed Michelle's belief that the conditions under which housemates live are not conducive to an expectant mother and that her continued stay in the house would be putting both herself and her baby at risk.

After consultations with Big Brother Michelle informed her fellow housemates of her pregnancy and her decision to leave the house.

Commented Carl Fischer, CEO Magicworks, "We regret that Michelle is leaving the Big Brother house but are extremely happy for her with the good news of her pregnancy. We commend her for making what must have been a difficult decision and wish her the best of luck with her pregnancy.

32-year-old, Michelle from Cape Town, was one of the four bushwhackers who were whisked away to the Lesheba Wilderness at the commencement of the second season of Big Brother. Viewers were given a week to vote for the male and female bushwhacker they wanted to see in the house and last night the voter polls gave Puledi and Michelle entrance into the house.

In terms of the rules the producers can replace a housemate who leaves voluntarily and have announced that a new housemate will enter the Big Brother house at 7am Tuesday morning.
