Cape Argus wins international awards

The Cape Argus has once again achieved international recognition, winning three first prizes and a second prize, at the 67th Annual Editor & Publisher/International Newspaper Marketing Association (INMA) award ceremony held in Toronto on 2 May.

John Lloyd, marketing & sales director at Independent Newspapers Cape, was presented with a total of six awards (Cape Argus 4, Cape Times 2) at this prestigious event which honours excellence in newspaper marketing.

In 2002, the E&P/INMA Awards generated nearly 1 100 entries from 176 newspapers from 28 different countries around the world. Judging for the competition was held in Dallas, by 24 top executives from media companies, product marketers, and advertising agencies. The judges selected first place recipients and runners-up for each of the 17 categories in four circulation groups, from under 50 000 to over 300 000.

Judging is based on concept, creativity, copy/graphic design, production and overall effectiveness, as well as results.

On receiving the awards John Lloyd said: "We congratulate our ad agency, King James, on its outstanding work. I would like to thank our Marketing & Cape Argus editorial teams for their fantastic support".

While in Toronto, Lloyd was Day Chairman of the INMA World Congress of Newspaper Marketing.

INMA is a non-profit association dedicated to promoting advanced marketing principles within the newspaper industry. It has more than 1 100 members from 61 countries.
