The six-part TV series plans to bring plants, animals and people of the peace parks to life, as Ewart-Smith and crew begin with Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, after which they will head for the Richtersveld. Peace parks are cross-border conservation areas that enable animals to follow their ancient migration routes across two or more countries.
Homebrew Films, creators of the conservation programme Groen and SABC's Shoreline, are producing the transfrontier parks series, which has been commissioned by the Natural History Unit.
During the filming, Ewart-Smith will be blogging about the parks and his experiences, producing field reports, photographic updates and articles on the Wild Card website - www.wildcard.co.za - and be available for short radio and TV interviews via satellite phone.
