Medical professionals

Explains Farham, “The medical industry's many players are currently underserved by the online community, with few local websites aimed at medical professionals and the service providers in the medical industry. A targeted community for medical professionals is long overdue. Between them, medical providers, medical professionals and their associated industries control a large amount of capital across Africa and the rest of the developing world.”

Farham adds that medical professionals require information – regular, up-to-date and easily accessible.

These include medical industries, hospital groupings, medical equipment suppliers and pharmaceutical companies which need to disseminate information to medical professionals for commercial and regulatory reasons.

Two levels of content

Working on two levels https://www.bizcommunity.com provides Bizcommunity.com's well-known and successful marketing environment – specialist press offices, a press release service and sponsored features that allow information about your company to reach the mailboxes and online eyes of our readers.

Second level access is restricted to medical professionals, who register for access free. Professional medical content will be aimed specifically at developing world medicine, covering up-to-date information and news focusing on malaria, TB, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS, chronic illnesses, diseases of poverty, issues around drug access and medical politics. Journal content from the Health and Medical Publishing Group journals CME and the South African Medical Journal will shortly be available, as will coverage of major conferences in the region.

Target market

The target market is the health professional, the researcher, the NGO, the teaching institution, the pharmaceutical company, the government health official… all of these in one way or another are responsible for shaping policy, delivery, building the industry of the future: training the doctors, nurses and others who will take the industry to the next level. These are the people and the organisations advertisers need to reach.

Initially the site will cover the broadest of categories: infectious diseases, gynecology and obstetrics, HIV/AIDS, TB, malaria, corporate social responsibility, chronic diseases, pediatrics, emergency medicine, and the catch-all… medical.

Advertising or marketing companies associated with the medical field, will also be able to use the site as a medium through which they can gain exposure to the movers and shakers in the medical/health sector and stay informed about related issues in the category.
