Is good is nice...
Characters S'dumo and Laqhasha from the eighties' TV programme Sgudi 'Snaysi (It's Good - it's Nice) have been revived by Net#work BBDO for Nedbank's latest TV commercial on personal loans. The ad uses humour to show that there are safer ways of getting money.
Says Net#work BBDO executive creative director Julian Watt, "Nedbank's biggest opportunity is to bring itself to the people, rather than how most banks talk from above. We used a character that sits well within the memories and fabric of people's lives. It's nice that Nedbank is able to 'lighten up' in a category that's usually way too reverent."
The ad opens with S'dumo contemplating which old teabag he could possibly still get a cuppa out of when he is accosted by Laqhasha brandishing a baseball bat. The supposed "loan shark" wants his money back with interest and seemingly will break legs to get it.
