Chuma Koyana

Mr. Koyana boasts a robust educational background with degrees such as B. Compt from Walter Sisulu University, a Diploma in Investment Management from University of Johannesburg, a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from University of KwaZulu-Natal, and he is an AGA (SA) certified by SAICA. His career initiated in 1995 as a trainee accountant at Gobodo Inc., later transitioning to finance roles at Standard Bank in the Card Division and Telephone Banking. He expanded his experience at FirstRand as a trainee internal auditor with rotations across RMB Treasury, RMB Securities, FNB Custody, and FNB Company Secretary, along with managing debtors at FNB Microfinance.
Furthering his career in financial services, he served as a Consultant in the Strategy & Finance Unit at Arthur Andersen Business Consulting. At Nations Capital, he delved into corporate finance, business advisory, and transaction advisory services, serving clients such as Eskom Enterprises. His tenure at Industrial Development Corporation involved substantial roles in Transport, Financial Services & Other SBU, and equity funding of significant banking BEE deals, including investments in Capitec Bank, SASFIN Bank and Alexander Forbes, among others. He was instrumental in the first round of AB350 funding led by IDC, the lead arranger for the Financing Consortium comprising of IDC, DBSA, NEF, ECDC and Scania Finance.
In 2012, after 14 years in Johannesburg, he joined AB350 as the Business Development and Research Manager in the Office of the Executive Chairman, a position he held for eight years. Here, AB350 grew to operate 135 routes with a team of 480, servicing the former Transkei. Concurrently, he led Sivatho Chuma Wealth Managers, securing significant projects and funding across various sectors, including transportation and agriculture.
Recently, he was appointed Project Manager at ECDC, where he also acted as the Blended Finance Manager for the R50 million ECRDA ECDC Blended Finance Fund, targeting primary agriculture. Additionally, he serves as a mentor for a small-scale fisher co-operative through DFFE and is involved in the SAICA Mentorship programme.
